Busy Saturday, Slow Sunday

We had a busy Saturday and a very slow Sunday.  Saturday morning I took some family photos for some friends of mine.  The weather was perfect and I captured some great shots.  I’ll post some of them after I’ve edited their session.  We had a wedding to go to Saturday night and Ana Kate was SO excited.  She has never been to a wedding and she could not stop talking about it.  She couldn’t wait to see the bride walk down the aisle and for them to kiss.  (She’s obviously been watching too many princess movies).  She was very good at the wedding and sat still and was quiet (for the most part).  She did have a funny moment though.  I’m not sure it will sound nearly as funny as it actually was, but I’ll try to explain it.  Our friends Deric, Amanda, and Amelia were sitting beside us and Ana Kate kept sitting on Doug’s lap in order to be closer to Amelia.  At one point she moved off Doug’s lap to stand up in the aisle in front of us.  When she got up we heard a big poot (that’s the word we use for passing gas as I don’t like Ana Kate saying the other word).   At first I looked at Doug and then back at her and said, ‘Ana Kate!’ (obviously implying that we don’t do that in public, much less at a wedding during the ceremony…)  She turned around and I’m not sure why, (maybe we cause we were all looking at her) she smiled and gave us a big thumbs up!  I lost it, I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard while trying to be silent.  Just when I thought I could stop laughing I looked at Doug and he was shaking with laughter as well.  I couldn’t see anyone else from my spot, but Amanda told me later that she had tears from laughing so hard.  It really doesn’t sound that funny and maybe it was worse because we were supposed to be quiet, but oh my….we found it hilarious at that moment.  I wish I had a video of it to harass Ana Kate with when she’s older.  : )  So that was our entertainment for the evening.  I now wonder what the people sitting behind us were thinking.  Maybe they were laughing too?  Who knows…..
We went out to eat after the wedding and by the time we got home I started feeling terrible.  I think I caught Ana Kate’s cold and on top of that I also got a migraine.  So I went to bed and spent most of Sunday in bed.  I did take a few minutes to go outside and snap some pictures of Ana Kate playing in the leaves before it rained.  The fresh air made me feel slightly better, but I just couldn’t shake the migraine until late Sunday night.  So thankful to be feeling better today!

Ana Kate slept great last night!  We headed out to do some shopping after lunch and I thought she might fall asleep in the car, but she didn't....so no nap today either.  Ana Kate talked to EVERYONE in all the stores we went in.  She is such a talker!  It can be exhausting sometimes....but I love how social she is.  : )  We got her a cardboard playhouse today and she LOVED it!!  She helped me put it together and then played in it all afternoon.

When Doug got home from work we headed to Sam's.  When we were there Ana Kate threw a huge fit because I wouldn't let her walk unless she held my hand....it was awful!  I just tried to be patient and explain why she had to sit in the cart, but she really wasn't listening to me.  She eventually calmed down, but it was obvious that she was tired...so I expect her to fall asleep early again tonight.  After Sam's we went by Mimi's house and then came home.  I took pictures just before dark and Ana Kate didn't want to cooperate....so I got the umbrellas out again.

I thought I'd share a funny conversation that I had with Ana Kate while I was giving her a bath today...
Ana Kate:  Mommy I want to go see Sharlette (my Aunt) and show her my mosquito bites.
Me:  Honey we can't go see Aunt Sharlette today.
Ana Kate:  Why not?
Me:  Because she lives far away (4 hours) and Mommy doesn't want to drive that far today.
Ana Kate:  Well....you can drive an airplane.
Me:  I don't know how to drive an airplane and besides we don't have an airplane.
Ana Kate:  Well...they're at the airport.
She amazes me at times with the things she knows.

We had a pretty lazy morning just hanging out at home.  I made pizza for lunch and then we got ready to go for a bike ride.  I got a new seat for Ana Kate that attaches to my bike, so she was excited to try it out.  We drove out to the bike trails and about 2 miles before we got there we noticed that Ana Kate was alseep.  So...no bike ride today, maybe tomorrow.  After Ana Kate's nap I started baking for the MOPS bake sale which is part of our big craft fair on Saturday.  I was baking most of the night....I made 6 dozen cookies!  By the time they all cooled and I packaged and labeled them I was worn out!

Pictures were taken quickly...in between baking.  I only had one where her mouth wasn't open...my girl just never stops talking.

I have a really funny Ana Kate story.  Tonight Doug and I were arguing about something silly and he wasn't listening to me so I raised my voice to try and get my point across.  Ana Kate immediately comes over to me and says:  'Mommy you don't yell at Daddy, understand me?  You come sit in time out!'  She then leads me over to the time out rug and tells me to sit down.  Then she goes over to her little play kitchen and sets the timer on the microwave.  It was SO funny...and SO precious.  We are working on not yelling at people currently, so I should be more aware of my tone of voice as well.

Not much else....I'm tired, so I'm off to bed.

Another slow day here...so not much to say.

Ana Kate napped very well today, but I had problems again getting her in bed tonight.  She was still awake when I started this post...after 10pm.  I'm wondering if I should wake her up earlier in the morning or maybe shorten her nap to only an hour each day.  I might try both and see if it helps.

More funny sayings from today:
-Ana Kate was in the bath today and she started rubbing either side of her nose below her eyes and when I asked her what was wrong she said, 'Mommy I think my sinuses are bothering me'.  I have no idea where she got this....maybe a commercial??  Too funny though and probably true as she's had a runny nose all week.
-Then tonight she was sitting on the couch with me watching a movie and she got really close to me and was looking at my eyes....and she said, 'Oh...I see Ana Kate', so I asked her if she could see her reflection in my eyes and she looked again for a long moment and then said...'Wow!!'...she was so amazed by it!  I love it when I catch the amazement and wonder in her little face and voice when she learns something new.

Photos were very quick and very last minute today...I just didn't have much energy.  I love the first one, but it's not as sharp as I would have liked...then I asked for a nice pretty smile and I got her fake smile in the second one.

Today we got up fairly eary (for a Sunday) and went to get doughnuts.  I rarely eat them....even though I love them, I just can't justify all the sugar and fat.  Ana Kate loves doughnuts too...so we figured we could indulge every once in a while.  We did a few things around the house and then went to War Eagle Mill to buy some things....they have all different kinds of organic flours, steel cut oats, flax seed....I love all of their stuff.  On the way home we stopped at the park and I took a few pictures.  Ana Kate had SO much fun on the big slide!

Whitney is much more swollen today and still in pain.  I don't think she is really resting enough, so I'm going to try to make her stay in bed most of the day tomorrow and see if that helps.

Ana Kate has been so funny today.  A couple of weeks ago out of nowhere she gets on my lap and says...'Mommy you are the best!'  I though it was really sweet, but couldn't figure out where she had learned it....she is still saying it, but now she will use it on Daddy as well.  She has also added to it...now she says, 'Mommy you are the best I've ever seen'...it makes me laugh!  She just talks non-stop...so there is usually something funny coming out of her mouth.  : )  I really need to try and get more video of her....I might work on that this week.

We took Cricket back to the vet today and if was a lovely experience.  Cricket is the best dog, but she gets extremely nervous at the vet.  Add in Ana Kate running around trying to pull her on the leash and talking super loud and it was quite a lovely outing.  I was so happy when we finally got home!  Not much else today besides grocery shopping.

Ana Kate did nap today and was in such a good mood when she got up.  I was holding her right after she woke up and she was looking at my feet and says...'Oh Mommy I love your walking shoes.'  It's funny to me that she called them that because I typically only wear tennis shoes if we are going for a walk.  Lately when I suggest we do something she will always say...'That's a great idea Mom!'.  And then the other day we were walking into the bookstore and I was letting her go to the children's section.  I asked her if she was going to behave and looked up at me and said ' You Betcha'.  I have no idea where she got that....none of us ever say that...but it was SO funny.

So...one month down and 11 left to go on my 365 project.  I have to say it's been pretty easy so far, but today it was tough to even attempt pictures.  Ana Kate actually didn't mind...of course she had chocolate again, so she was happy.

Ana Kate loves Josh and she loves his iphone....he is sweet and always lets her play with it.

We had a fairly quiet day today.  We stayed home and did some laundry.

Ana Kate must have caught a cold from one of the kids at church because her nose has been running nonstop since last night.  Speaking of which...I mentioned we had a rough day yesterday, but I forgot to say she had two shots at the doctor's office.  I don't really think she felt bad, but it could have made her a bit crankier than normal.

I put her to bed last night at 9 and she fell asleep within 5 minutes...but by about 10 she started crying and I noticed how stuffy she sounded.  The continued crying and congestion resulted in her throwing up all over her bed and herself.  So we had a bath and bed changing and laundry late last night.  After her bath I rocked her and she fell asleep quickly.  This time I made sure to lay her on her side so all that drainage wouldn't make her sick again.  This isn't anything new necessarily, Ana Kate has always had a light gag reflex and if she cries for very long she will start gagging...but it hasn't happened in a long time and Doug usually will help me either by taking care of her or cleaning up.  But he was out of town for work last night and it was so much harder.  The bath seemed to settle her down though, so I was able to clean up everything while she was in the tub.  She seems to feel a lot better today, but her nose is still running and her cheeks are very chapped.

Ana Kate has been really funny lately.  First she has been calling me Candace a lot...usually when I don't answer fast enough after she calls for Mommy.  She has called Doug by his name for a while, but only uses it ocassionally.  I always thought it was funny...until she started doing it to me.  So I tell her my name is Candace, but you call me Mommy....and she usually giggles and says it again.  The interesting thing is she pronounces it better than many adults.  Second, she has a little baby dolphin stuffed animal that is her favorite and I noticed the other day she was placing it under the barstools.  Then she would say, 'Oh no...the baby dolphin is in trouble.  To the rescue!  I'll save you baby dolphin!'.  She would do this over and over and it was super cute!

I only took a couple of pictures today because baby girl is just not feeling 100% today.  I am getting this post done early because I have Mom's night out tonight with my MOPS group!  Yay!  I'm so excited....we're going to the movies to see Leap Year.  I can't even remember the last time I went to the movies....at least 2 years.  So I'm off to get ready!

Today was one of the laziest Sunday's we've ever had. It snowed last night, and the roads were pretty bad, so we stayed home all day and did a lot of nothing! It was nice and very relaxing! I got out my Nikon and tried to get some pictures of Ana Kate, but again got very little cooperation. She is getting very good at hiding from the camera.

I thought since we didn't do much today I would share a few of Ana Kate's favorite phrases lately:

1) 'But, Mom....I need to ask you a question.' (This is almost always said after I've asked her to do something and is used as a stall tactic.)
2) 'It's a guaranteed failure!' (Still haven't figured out where she got this, but she says it a lot...)
3) 'Are you kidding me?' (This one is always used in context and really makes us laugh...occassionally she will also say 'That's crazy' shortly after.)

She talks ALL the time and is usually saying something funny. I'm sure I could think of some more, but those are the ones we currently hear the most. I don't have much more to add tonight...we were pretty boring today. Hope everyone has enjoyed their New Year's weekend!

Only clouds in the sky today...and lots of snow on the ground.

I took a few more pictures of Ana Kate outside on the front porch. I forgot to adjust my shutter for the first picture and it's the only one she really posed for....so it's quite overexposed...but she's looking at me. : ) I'm just getting back into photography and actually trying to take decent manual pictures...so hopefully the pictures will improve as this project moves forward.
